You and Your H+ Procedure
What do you need to do before and after your procedure? What will my H+ Procedure be like? Read below to find out how our hair loss treatments will ensure you freedom from your hair loss problems.

Your preparations, two weeks prior to your H+ Procedure

Two weeks prior to your H+ Procedure:

  • We advise you to not take any Aspirin or any other anti-inflammatory medications, as they can increase bleeding. This is the same for vitamins B and E (including multi-vitamins)

  • We ask you not to consume any alcohol a week before your procedure as this may also increase bleeding

  • You MUST inform one of our members of staff If you have been prescribed or are taking any medication that you have started after your intial consultation consultation with us

  • If you are taking any prescribed medication, such as blood pressure tablets, you should continue to take it as prescribed right up to and including the day of your H+ Procedure

  • If you are taking a group of medications called beta blockers please let the doctor know as these might have to be altered

  • Avoid very spicy foods and onions for 3 days prior to the procedure.

On the day of your procedure

  • Shower and wash your hair using your regular shampoo. Do not apply sprays, gels or any other styling products to your hair

  • If you are wearing a hair system, please remove it before shampooing and do not wear again until a month after surgery

  • We advise you to wear loose, comfortable clothing and a front-fastening top, not one you pull over your head as this may cause the transplanted hair to become dislodged

  • Avoid any caffeinated beverages such as coffee throughout the day, as these may increase your sensitivity to medications used during your procedure

  • Otherwise, eating breakfast as normal. Subject to the time of your H+ Procedure, we will provide your lunch and snacks. Please let us know if you have any special dietary needs.

Arriving at the clinic

  1. Upon your arrival at the clinic, one of our members of staff will review your procedure consent form with you, ensuring all relevant paperwork is complete and answer any questions you may have.

  2. During your initial consultation, you will have decided where you want your new hairline to be and it will now be marked and photographed.

  3. You will then be offered a sedative, to relax you before the start of your H+ Procedure

  4. You will also be given a choice of music to listen to, movies to watch or if you prefer you can just have a chat with the staff during the procedure.

  5. A local anaesthetic will be applied around the perimeter of the scalp

  6. Once the scalp is entirely numb, your H+ Procedure will commence and will be completely painless.

Should your procedure be an extensive one, lasting, more then 5-6 hours, an additional anaesthetic will be applied before the first one wears off.

Precautions to take after your H+ Procedure

Following your surgery, we apply a dressing on the back of your head at the donor site, this should be left in place until the next morning. Once you’ve showered and removed these coverings, no replacements are required.

When in strong sunlight, you are advised to wear a hat and after two weeks you may go bare-headed, but you should are advised to wear a sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor 30+. You will usually be able to resume your normal daily routine almost immediately.

We will advise you as to how soon you can take up any strenuous exercise, as the laxity of your scalp and the precise nature of your H+ Procedure may be considerations.

We do ask you to return for a follow-up visit, one week after your H+ Procedure, however if you live some distance from our clinic, we can normally confirm your progress by telephone.
